Everything you wanted to know about NFC

NFC is one of the current trends, which say a lot. What is it? How this technology is distributed and, importantly, to what extent it is used in Russia? Does it make sense to rush to buy the device that supports NFC, or wait?

What is NFC?

NFC – an acronym that stands for Near Field Communication, or “near field communication”. This technology provides a low-frequency wireless communication small range, and the adapter allows you to use it today is embedded in many smartphones, tablets, cameras and so on. Using NFC you can transfer data to a distance of 20 cm at a speed of up to 424 kbit/s.

Why NFC and not Bluetooth or Wi-Fi?

Some manufacturers (e.g. Sony) is proud to host the NFC logo directly on the device.

Others write about it…on the battery (so does, for example, Samsung).

But you can not look into the case and not to remove the cover in search of the inscriptions on the battery, it is sufficient to check availability of NFC adapter through the menu. The Android operating system since version Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, this technology is already supported.

It’s simple:

  1. enter the menu and find the option “Wireless and networks”;
  2. at this point, click “More…”;
  3. then find the option of NFC, under which is the inscription “allow data exchange when combining the tablet with another device”.

At this point you need to tick and all, NFC works and can be used to communicate with other devices.
